The Forever Sea

The Forever Sea

I hear the kisses in your voice
and they are mine,
they are mine
those blessing made with lips and fingertips,
those flowers of touch
those whispers of skin
they are mine,
the kisses in your voice,
whenever you speak to me.

You see devotions in my eyes
and they are yours,
they are yours
those pledges made with smiles and hungering,
those aspects of rapture,
those glances of revere
they are yours,
the devotions in my eyes,
whenever I think of you.

Your hair is the fringe
of cool leaves
where my mind finds peace and shade.

My chest is the dune
of sunlit sand
where your head rests safe and warm.

The sun rises with your name.

The lake of night shimmers,
dreaming of you.

I open my heart to the stars
falling and burning
from your lips
when we love.

And the words that rise and fall
when we love,
when we love,
are jewels,
tumbling and rolling
along the riverbed of desire,
until home at last and free
they crash and spill
into the forever sea.

And every wave that pours
its breathless pleasure on that shore,
my beloved,
every wave that pours
its breathless pleasure on that shore,
is the heartbeat of my love.
